At a shade under $150,000 it could be Noosa’s cheapest waterfront property.
After the humble caravan that served Boreen Point Camping Ground managers so well went under for the umpteenth time in the last episode of Noosa’s floods, council began the process of moving the caretakers’ residence and office to higher ground with the construction of a purpose-built residence and campground office.
Former caretaker Bernie Low said the caravan was half submerged when the rains, high tides and an overnight deluge swamped the camp ground in February. Mr Low has since handed the reigns over to Steven Young and Derek Mahone, who will be the first residents of the property while they manage the campground’s 40 sites.
With a view of Lake Cootharaba and space for a boat, there could be worse places to work.
Mr Abbot said planning had been underway for a number of years. “I am very pleased to finally offer them a proper place to conduct business and welcome visitors,” Mr Abbot said.
Noosa-based firm Bush and Beach designed and built the modular house which sits one metre above the highest recorded flood point.
