It was a kaleidoscope of creativity and colour when artists gave another meaning to the “body beautiful” at Eumundi yesterday.
The canvases were alive and breathing and the artists took several hours to perfect each unique work. Artists who used the body in a manner distinctly different from sculpture and portrait style took over the town to work their magic.
Thousands flocked to the Australian Body Art Carnivale to see each human canvas transformed into a living work of art.
‘The Natural World’ theme saw artists dabble with earthy colours, symbolic themes and intricate designs created specifically for each model.
With the human body as inspiration, artists created their own interpretation of the natural world around them in yesterday’s body art competition.
The carnivale drew interest from cutting-edge artists around the globe, who joined local artists to express their flair.
A wearable art competition also sparked imaginative creations, with entrants creating fashion from recyclable goods to second-hand objects.
