Police are treating a blaze at an abandoned Nambour home early this morning as arson.
Firefighters were called out to the fire just after 4am after a Clayton’s tow truck driver drove past the Perwillowen Road house and noticed the blaze.
He used the water in his truck to dampen down the blaze until firefighters arrived.
The fire was contained to a few rooms in the derelict building, however firefighters donned breathing apparatus because it had become so smoke logged.
Firefighters needed to go through decontamination procedures after extinguishing the blaze because the house was lined with asbestos.
The blaze followed a bushfire at Woombye yesterday that burnt about four hectares of scrub and destroyed a shed.
Anyone with information that could assist police should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
