A woman has been taken to Nambour General Hospital after being bitten by a snake at Mooloolaba Beach.
The 70-year-old walked up to council lifeguards after she noticed what appeared to be bite marks on her left index finger and her hand started to throb just before 1pm.
A passing police patrol was alerted and the ambulance was called.
Council lifeguard Peter Mitchell said the woman seemed healthy when ambulance crews took her to hospital.
He suspected either the snake was not venomous or it had not injected poison when it attacked the lady.
Mr Mitchell and police bandaged the woman's arm when they realised the wound may have been created by a snake bite.
"Half an hour had passed and she was still alright," Mr Mitchell said.
